The 1816 Plantation Home

How long since I have posted anything here... seems forever ago... somewhere in a dream perhaps.   Much time has passed and much has changed in my life.    I am newly diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.  Can you imagine the surprise, but not a surprise in a way.  I am determined however to keep all that business on the back burner of my thoughts and work on accomplishing all the things I yet wish to do before the Lord carries my soul from this earth.  God willing that I shall see all my dear departed loved ones again, for I miss them all so very much.

In this the Year of Our Lord, 2018, summer is fast upon Georgia.   My back garden has become a buttery for all the birds and small animals whose homes are near.  They are gracious enough to sometimes leave me a little harvest.  My blackberries and blueberries are long gone.  Such a bumper crop this year would be divine!  I must tell you however, for the past two years, a cardinal and his wife have partaken in the harvesting of all berries.  Being the gentleman, the male cardinal  is so kind and caring and he picks the fruit while his wife waits safely nearby, then feeds her.  It's all quite lovely really, an inspiration for a delightful Beatrix Potter story!  Perhaps, a Stacy French story.

Getting back to what is happening in my life these days,  we have been in our newly built home for just over 3 years now.   We are yet to be settled in as rooms are not decorated and my tastes are changing as to color and design.
I did select area rugs for the 3 bedrooms upstairs.. that's a little progress.  I will post more later as life is taking me from my moment of blogging.

Pollen Arts a Fabulous ETSY Shop

"Pollen Arts" is a fabulous ETSY shop I came across while searching the net for some handcrafted beeswax candles. What's so special about this shop is that Pollen Arts creates their candles using antique bottles!! The candles are absolutely beautiful and perfect for enjoying yourself or for gift giving.

I love beeswax candles, and when I found these I had to share their shop. The wonderful thing about beeswax candles is that they burn clean and use a renewable source of energy in a divine honey scented way. Take a moment and check out all the beautiful antique bottle candles from Pollen Arts on ETSY

Coles Phillips and the Fadeaway Girls

As the weather in Atlanta begins to warm, and springs calls forth the profusion of red buds and azaleas, my mind begins to revel in the long summer days of the past. Glorious summers of sand and surf. We spent them on the beaches of the Great Lakes, where the sun melted on the horizon of the blue water and glistened on the white capped waves and the beach was a crazy quilt of colorful towels and umbrellas. Coppertone and brine scented the air. Gulls calling and Motown's latest release mixed with the sounds of boats splashing across the water's surface.

In my reverie, I am reminded of an American Illustrator of the 20's, Coles Phillips, famous for the "Fade-Away Girls", his illustrations were incomplete and allowed one's mind to fill in the beauty.
Of all his many works, one of my favorites is titled, Smooth Sailing, it takes me back to those summers at the Lakes and I almost can smell the Coppertone and the brackish scent of the beach.

Watch for the Super Moon on Saturday March 19th!

A Super Moon will occur on Saturday, March 19th.
It is known as a Super "Perigee Moon" and will be the biggest since 1983, almost 20 years ago.
The moon will be 14% bigger and 30% Brighter.
The best time to view is when the moon is on the horizon!
If you're lucky enough to have a clear night in your area, don't miss it!!

p.s. don't expect any unusual tides or other phenomon, nothing happened in 19

83 and it is expected to be the same this time.

American Folk Art Museum

Those fortunate to be in New York City March 25-30,
plan to stop by the American Folk Art Museum for "Infinite Variety" Three Centuries of Red & White Quilts. It will consist of 650 red and white quilts, on loan from the private collection of Joanna S. Rose. It is the largest collection of quilts ever exhibited in New York, and best of all, it is free to the public!!!

maygirl etsy shop

I am working day and night to create items to sell on my new etsy shop. I have the shop banner completed and now to finish a few Christmas items to list for sale. It will be fun to have a little shop
of my own to sell through. I am working with most of my supplies still in boxes, so it will take a bit of extra effort to accomplish a few things.

We are still working on securing a piece of property here in Atlanta. Hopefully things will transpire soon. In the meantime.....I plan to create and sell through etsy. Love to hear about anyone's experience with it all!

Have a wonderful and Blessed Thanksgiving.

Creating and Finding

I am finding that my intention of keeping things in boxes isn't the easist to do after all. It is so time consuming to have to open and look through taped boxes when I need one or two things for creating. It requires a knife to open and tape to shut them again, plus a lot of minutes to look through each one. Oh my, this is truly getting old very quickly! Ah well, this too shall pass.
I am working on pieces to put on my new *MAYGIRL* etsy store. I still can't say that I know what I am doing, but it is kind of fun figuring it all out.

I will post when I finally get some works on MAYGIRL. It will be interesting to see how it all goes! It will call for a glass of champagne when I make my first on-line sale. Gosh, that will be something!

Back to work for me, the night is passing quickly!
